Rather than chasing overnight success, the Michigan songwriter, producer, and entry-level performer has built his blossoming journey around authentic storytelling, grassroots promotion, and genuine human connection. His music speaks to the everyday Americans, weaving together themes of faith, family, freedom, redemption, patriotism, perseverance, and nostalgic reflections on growing up in small-town America.
That approach is beginning to resonate.
At the time of publication, songs from Scott's recently released acoustic album, Campfire Chords, have accumulated 7,641 all-time Spotify streams. During the album's first week of release, the project generated 2,592 streams, reaching 330 unique listeners who averaged 7.6 streams per listener, while earning 28 playlist adds and 289 saves.
Perhaps the most encouraging statistic is the consistency of listener engagement. Rather than gravitating toward one or two songs, audiences have explored the project from beginning to end, with songs that were never released as singles performing alongside the album's featured tracks.
Across his entire Spotify catalog—including American Crossroads (Signature Edition), Campfire Chords, and previously released production demos—Scott is now approaching 25,000 total Spotify streams.

"People have been beat down basically since the turn of the century. They're tired and giving up. They are frustrated. I'm speaking for the silent majority of everyday, real-life people struggling and fighting their own personal battles."

He has openly discussed overcoming phyisical, social and mental health issues Rather than allowing those experiences to define him, he has chosen to transform them into songs intended to encourage others.
"You are not alone. I've been down some pretty dark roads with bouts of heartbreak, severe weight gain, anxiety and depression. I deal with heart and breathing issues. I'm showing people that there is still hope. You can do a lot of positive things in your life and for others with faith, hard work, love, and the right attitude."
Music has been part of Scott's life since childhood.
He began writing songs in the sixth grade, although for many years music remained a private passion.
"I never did anything with music really besides listen to everything I could get my hands on. I was insecure about my voice and the music I was making. Now I feel like I have a lot to say and sort out. It's been very therapeutic. I loved the production and the stories. Now, I'm hoping by telling mine we can either save some people or change some lives for the better."
Musically, Scott blends Americana, country, folk, blues, heartland rock, classic rock, Southern rock, acoustic rock, '90s alternative, nu metal, and hip-hop production into a sound centered on storytelling, melody, and emotional honesty in something he calls the Bluewater Sound Wave (Local Artist Spotify Playlist Available).
He credits several Michigan artists as influential to his musical development, including The Gasoline Gypsies, Glenbrooke, Ryan Scott and The Creekhounds, Julianne Ankley, Denny Dwyer, and Dirty Dan & The Tattooed Souls. Scott also points to the band's loyal community of supporters—the Dirty Dozen—as an example of the authentic artist-fan relationship he hopes to cultivate throughout his career.
"These are incredible artists from the Thumb Coast of Michigan. They're so talented. They're true artists and musicians, and I hope I can sing, play, and perform at their level one day. They've been very inspiring. Not to menton, the ones I've personally encountered at the Active Lounge, Hilliger's Bar, and Friendly Fridays are amazing people."
Unlike many singer-songwriters, Scott intentionally designed Campfire Chords around his own growth as a musician.
After performing vocals on his first album, he wrote the acoustic project using basic open chords and simple strumming patterns that he could realistically learn as a beginning guitarist.
"My gifts are songwriting and production. I'm an average vocalist and an aspiring guitar player."
Having played guitar for only four months, Scott has chosen to share that journey publicly as he works toward becoming a live performing musician.
"I'm sharing my journey in real time and working my tail off to improve to make sure I give the people who support me a good show when the time finally comes. I'm in this for the long haul and won't give up on the path the Lord has set before me. I'm strong enough to overcome my failures and learn from them."
His approach to promotion mirrors that same philosophy.
Working with a small marketing budget of approximately $5 per day, Scott has relied almost entirely on organic social media, word of mouth, and personal interaction.
"You can do a lot on a $5-a-day budget and organic promotion. Connecting with people is my primary goal. I want to help as many people as I can."
Rather than depending solely on digital advertising, he spends time meeting listeners wherever they may be.
"I'm going to the streets, the benches, the parks, lakes, rivers and beaches. Trying to find at least one more set of ears each time. Heck, I'll take one ear if it means I'm making a difference. This is my own form of ministry."
That grassroots philosophy has already led Scott to open mic nights around Port Huron, Michigan, where he has begun taking small opportunities as a live performer while connecting with fellow musicians.
This summer, he plans to continue that journey while traveling through eight states, combining travel with music promotion and live performance opportunities to continue developing. The route may eventually extend through the Gulf Coast and west toward Dallas, Texas as he is now working with other artists in order to help them chase their dreams.
Traveling alongside him is his Chihuahua, Daisee Mae, who has become a familiar companion throughout both his travels and social media presence.
"My pup Daisee Mae and I are livin' free and runnin' down a dream."
Despite today's economic challenges, Scott believes artists have more opportunities than ever to reach people directly.
"We all go through things. We are all a work in progress. I'm showing people that their circumstances don't need to dictate their future or current reality. We can all do better. The world is changing. The gatekeepers are fading, and right now it doesn't seem like it but the world is becoming a better place in the long run. We have all the tools we need to share our stories with the world and chase our dreams."
For Scott, success isn't measured solely by streams, playlists, or followers.
Instead, it's measured by conversations started, hope restored, and lives encouraged.
"This is the soundtrack of my life. God, family, and music have each played a role in saving it. I'm paying it forward."
